What is cranial osteopathy?
The cranial system involves the cranial bones, the dural membranes and the flow of cerebrospinal fluid round the brain as well as up and down the spinal cord. It performs an important role in nurturing the health of the central nervous system. Imbalances in this subtle dynamic fluid system can have an impact on the normal functioning of many other systems in the body.
How does it work?
It is a very gentle, subtle and relaxing technique which can be used on all patients, from the treatment of babies to children, adults and the elderly. The name cranial osteopathy simply refers to the fact that it addresses the structures inside the head. At the Rêve Pavilion we evaluate aspects of the cranio-sacral system as a part of our assessment procedure. Our aim is to facilitate the self-balancing tendencies of the body and release any imbalances that are found.
What does it do?
It encourages the release of stresses and tensions throughout the body and is used to treat conditions such as:
- Face pain and sinus pain
- Headaches and migraine
- TMJ (jaw disorders)
- Anxiety and depression
- Feeling run down
It can also be useful for treating some sports injuries and impact injuries such as whiplash as a result of a car accident.
“The treatment has been fantastic. My neck pain has disappeared completely and my treatment has been clearly explained throughout.” – S.C.
